Ruck Club Australia — Move. Connect. Belong.
What It Is
Movement, connection and belonging.
Ruck Club Australia is a free community rucking club based in Perth, Western Australia — open to veterans, civilians, first responders, and anyone looking for a walking club in Perth with a purpose.
We meet, ruck, carry an appropriate amount of weight if we choose, talk and spend time with other people. No gear required to start. No fitness test. No pressure.
How We Operate
Show up. Ruck. Belong. That's it.
Veterans, civilians, first responders — everyone moves together.
If you can walk, you can ruck. Your pace, your weight, your way.
Free to join — always. No subscription, no gear purchase required.
Our Ethos
Move. Connect. Belong.
Rucks take place along Perth's beaches, parks, trails and community areas — Fremantle, the Swan River foreshore, the hills and beyond. An informal coffee or catch-up follows every ruck. We are not GoRuck. We are not a gear brand. We are a community.
Ruck Club Australia is not therapy and it is not a military fitness session. It is simply a reason to get outside, move, connect with people and be part of a community.
The Activity
What is rucking?
Rucking is weighted walking — carrying a loaded pack (ruck) over distance. Rooted in military training known as Tactical Advance to Battle (TAB), rucking is one of the most effective and accessible forms of exercise available. It builds cardiovascular fitness, functional strength and mental resilience — and it is something you can do anywhere in Perth, from Fremantle to the Swan Valley.
Unlike gym-based fitness, rucking gets you outside, moving through your city, and connecting with the people around you. Research consistently links regular walking and outdoor activity to improved mental health outcomes — and adding a weighted pack amplifies the physical benefit without the injury risk of running.
Why Ruck Club Australia
Community-first
We are not a gear brand. We are not a franchise. Ruck Club Australia is a free community initiative — no subscription, no upsell, no pressure to buy anything.
Perth-based and locally led
Founded and led by Danny Hines — British Army veteran, AUSactive Registered Professional, and Perth local. Every ruck is organised and led by people who live and work in Western Australia.
Veteran-founded, civilian-welcoming
Rucking has military roots, but Ruck Club Australia is for everyone. Veterans, nurses, tradies, teachers, parents — if you want to move and connect, you belong here.
Mental health aware
Ruck Club Australia is designed to reduce isolation and build community — the kind of connection that supports long-term mental wellbeing.
